About
What this is
MediaBias.fyi is a free public toolkit for checking online claims. It began as a media literacy project for a Columbus State University course and is published and maintained by Kestrel Exams LLC.
What it will never do
- Ask you to make an account.
- Track you as an individual, or sell anything.
- Carry advertising. This site is a permanent no-ad zone, decided deliberately: a page that teaches you to ask who is paying should not itself be paid by someone you cannot see.
- Tell you what to believe about a contested political question.
Who makes this, and how it is paid for
This site is built, hosted and paid for by Kestrel Exams LLC, a small company that makes study tools for college and certification exams. That is its only business. It has no connection to the news industry, and this site takes no money from any outlet, platform, rating service, foundation or advocacy group whose work it discusses.
Running it costs a domain, static hosting and time. Nothing here is sponsored. No link on this site earns a commission, including every tool named in the resource directory. If any of that ever changes, it will be written on this page before it happens rather than after.
You should not take our word for it. That is the entire point of the second move: look us up somewhere that is not this page.

Editorial standard
Every factual claim on this site is checked against a named, dated, public source with a stated sample size before it is published. Where research is contested or a finding is preliminary, that is said rather than smoothed over. Corrections are made in place and noted.
Translation
English is authored. The other six languages are machine-assisted drafts and each carries a visible notice until a fluent speaker has reviewed it. We would rather say that plainly than let you assume a native editor has already been through it.
Corrections
